It was an opportunity to showcase what Plover Cottage is all about.                                                                 The comfortable accommodation, a warm welcome and the personal service we believe makes a stay special.

Welcome to Lindley, Huddersfield a beautiful Yorkshire village where traditional character meets independent restaurants, cafés, bars, boutiques and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere.
And right in the heart of it all is Plover Cottage.
Whether you are visiting for a wedding, enjoying a weekend away, attending a concert at The Piece Hall, visiting family or exploring Yorkshire, our self-catering accommodation gives you the perfect base to experience Lindley and the surrounding area.

Step outside your door and you can enjoy village life without needing to get in the car.

A Day Exploring Lindley from Plover Cottage Properties   

8:30am – Start the Day with Breakfast
Begin your morning with a leisurely breakfast in Lindley.
Take a stroll through the village and choose from one of the welcoming cafés and breakfast spots serving coffee, pastries, breakfast sandwiches and cooked breakfasts.
There’s something lovely about starting the day slowly — good coffee, good food and no need to rush.
Our tip: Take your time and enjoy the atmosphere of Lindley’s village centre before the day gets busy.
🛍️ 10:00am – Explore Lindley Village
After breakfast, explore the streets around Lindley.
You’ll find a lovely selection of independent boutiques, cafés, beauty businesses, gift shops and local businesses, alongside attractive stone buildings that give Lindley its distinctive Yorkshire character.
Have a browse, stop for a coffee if you fancy one, and enjoy discovering the village at your own pace.
Don’t forget your camera — Lindley has plenty of attractive corners and traditional Yorkshire architecture.
🌳 12:00pm – A Little Fresh Air
If the weather is good, take a walk around the local area and enjoy some of the green spaces and countryside surrounding Lindley.
For guests wanting to explore further, Huddersfield and the wider West Yorkshire countryside are close by, giving you plenty of opportunities for walking and sightseeing.
And the best part?
At the end of your walk, Plover Cottage Properties is waiting for you to put your feet up.
🥗 1:00pm – Lunch in Lindley
By now, you’ll probably have worked up an appetite!
Lindley has a great choice of places for lunch, from relaxed cafés and light bites to restaurants offering something more substantial.
Enjoy a leisurely lunch before continuing your afternoon adventure.
Guest tip: If you’re planning to eat at a popular restaurant, especially at weekends, booking ahead is always a good idea.
🏛️ 2:30pm – Discover Huddersfield & West Yorkshire
After lunch, why not venture a little further?
Huddersfield town centre is close by, while the wider area offers plenty to discover.
Depending on your interests, you could visit historic buildings, explore local markets, enjoy a countryside walk or make your way towards The Piece Hall in Halifax, one of West Yorkshire’s most spectacular historic destinations.
Lindley is an excellent base for exploring the area while returning to a comfortable place to stay at the end of the day.
☕ 4:30pm – Coffee & Cake
After your afternoon exploring, it’s time for a well-earned coffee and perhaps a slice of cake.
Return to Lindley and enjoy one of the village’s cafés before heading back to your accommodation.
Or simply return to Plover Cottage Properties, relax and get ready for the evening.
🍽️ 6:30pm – Dinner in Lindley
The evening is when Lindley really comes into its own.
Choose from restaurants, pubs and dining venues offering a variety of cuisines and atmospheres.
Whether you’re looking for a relaxed meal, somewhere special for a celebration or a cosy place for a drink and dinner, you’ll find plenty of choice close to your accommodation.
Our tip: Ask us about our favourite local places when you arrive. We love helping guests discover the best of Lindley.
🍷 8:30pm – An Evening Drink
After dinner, there’s no need to rush back.
Enjoy a drink at one of Lindley’s welcoming bars or pubs, soak up the evening atmosphere and enjoy the village after dark.
Then take a leisurely walk back to Plover Cottage Properties.
🛏️ 10:00pm – Home at Plover Cottage Properties
After a wonderful day exploring Lindley, it’s time to return to your accommodation.
Put your feet up, relax and enjoy the comfort of your own space.

Really enjoyed the property, great base for my stay to visit family and the surrounding areas.

It’s a great location visiting the Huddersfield area and beyond. The facilities at the property allow you to be completely self-sufficient and the property is equipped with everything you need and to a very high standard. I can only recommend the property as it meets all your needs and is such a lovely space to be in. The host is available to you to help in any way. I was fortunate to meet Cleide (host) and she was welcoming and helpful and so friendly. I had a lovely stay and will be booking again for sure.

OUR HUDDERSFIELD COTTAGES

Our charming properties based in the heart of Lindley make for an ideal cottage stay near Huddersfield, just a short drive or bus from the busy town our cottage is a perfect escape. With beautiful scenery, amazing food and a wonderful village community it truly feels like you have stepped through a portal into a heavenly and peaceful location.

Our cottage contains everything you could possibly need during your stay from washing machines to cooking apparatus, however we would definitely recommend, if you’re here for a short stay or romantic getaway to take a stroll around the village and picking one of the many wonderful places to eat.

For those who may not know, our cottage actually appeared on Channel 4’s ‘Four in a Bed’ were we received a payment of over 100% with all competitors exclaiming how much they enjoyed their stay.

THINGS TO DO IN HUDDERSFIELD

Our cottages are located just on the outskirts of Huddersfield, meaning if you’re here for a while you are probably going to want to find some things to do in and around the town!

Luckily for you Huddersfield is packed with various sites and activities to keep you busy during your stay, from The Huddersfield Art Gallery to Huddersfield Leisure Centre, not to mention tonnes of famous food venues such as Eric’s Restaurant and Da Sandro’s which has seen many famous faces over the years including Samuel L Jackson!
